Justified, too. Don't sleep on that one…lots of people do, but it's up there with Breaking Bad. The first season is a bit of a slog, though.

"I don't think white people really get to make jokes like that, to be honest."

I think that's in the Book of Revelations.

Speaking of insurance spokespeople…

An artist mines their own lives for content, but when it comes to expression and style, personal experience can only inform so much. It's very difficult to think of an artistic work that has literally no stylistic antecedents. Actually, I currently can't think of any, although I'm not ruling it out.

If you're going to put Cowboy Bebop on the list, it should have beaten The Critic.

The Jackass guys were their own subjects and fully game, so that makes a huge difference.

I agree that I am bad for thinking it, but you are wrong about it being one of the worst ideas on the internet. Also, don't give up on the elephant so easily.

I think the elephant has a better chance than people think if they are head-to-head (still probably an underdog). But if Barney gets the drop, I can't see that going well for Babar.

Huh, who cares about "size"? Boxers weigh in, they don't measure in. Nobody is interested in your gold vs. water fight, anyways.

My apologies if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but of course there are too many comments to reasonably check up on. Anyway, I think that I detected a theme in this episode - namely, the failure of threats and bullying. Let's recount:

FUCK YO CAT!!!!
(beating ensues)

Now I've got a whole new (amusing) mental picture to go with every bass drop…much obliged!

Well no, not Winters, but perhaps you did miss this scene:

This is a civil case, Flaggie. No sculptures involved.

I would be fucking amazed to see cards disagree with anyone about anything, no matter their actual stance.

It's a great album, but it was a little bit of a letdown for anyone (unreasonably) expecting another Odelay or Mutations. Such as myself. MV really is great, but those two albums are back-to-back classics. I admit that my impression of Sea Change is of a padded-out Mutations. I do know that's not entirely fair.

Isn't it actually better when it's all made up? I don't understand why being a murderer should be considered a qualification for being a credible artist. Or human being. Besides, "authenticity" has itself been part of the packaging, long before hip hop or even rock and roll.

I disagree…he was just as "funny" then as he is now in terms of building a joke etc. but his work is so much more personal than it was then, which has added dimensions to pretty much everything he now does. Also, there was one point he committed himself to building a new stand-up routine every year, since he was sick
