Well, you got the smug asshole schtick down pat, I'll give you that. You sure know how to mock a guy.

Well, I can't say I didn't try. I'm sorry that you don't get why this bothers people.

More bluntly:

I'll do the baby steps thing.

I get what you mean. But my original comment was reasonable in very obvious way. Even interpreted in the most literal light it could mean "from then on", as in, from this point forward, if you stop responding to me I won't address you anymore".

Well, yeah. You think I have a checkbox of "positions" the poster must meet before I deem it sufficiently offensive.

You seem to be having a fun time.

So if the poster had stayed up despite the complaints, you'd have no problem with it? If the AV Club had an article up about how great it was for Fox to stand its ground and keep the billboard up, you'd defend Fox's decision?

I was clearly the target in that comment. I think it's pretty fair for me to respond to it.

I was writing this in reply to my own comment. I'll copy and paste it here.

I think the sarcasm was aimed at me, though I could be wrong.

Sure, and Fox had every right to do that. I don't think they should have, and I think the many arguments made for why it should be something that has to be taken down are bad, but they can do it.

Here's the thing. From what I've seen, nobody actually had a problem with it, except perhaps for the one poster who was bothered because it was put up right next to a spot where lots of children would pass it prominently on a daily basis.

Then I'm satisfied.

I have been. Repeatedly. This is an important point, and one YOU brought up, about valuing opinions. Do you value the opinions on evangelicals about chastity? If a lot of them claimed they were offended, would you want the poster taken down?

It's an opinion, that some people have and some don't.

But none of us take every competing opinion equally. What if a fundamentlist Christian group wanted the poster taken down on the grounds J-Law's skin was showing?

You'll forgive me if I'm not impressed by a woman bravely claiming she was offended by a billboard.

Right, but this is just an image of a scene from the movie, and not a particularly graphic one. Not wage slavery, gore, or pornography. Most people don't care. If you want to talk numbers, click on the facebook trending link and look at people's reactions. It's eye-opening. Most people agree with me, including
