Elementary is aiming to be more serious and grounded in reality than Sherlock, which had a glow in the dark bunny, one man 'running the government', etc. Note that's not a dig at Sherlock, the canon was full of fantasy elements, many of which were ridiculous.

Well, this was pointless. The main criticisms revolves around Sherlock's structure and formatting and the natural faults that come with that. Same goes for Elementary, you could toss half the season out of the window but that's an inherent issue in the format they're in.
