You are absolutely correct . I read that last year and completely forgot about it . Aside from the chapter Jung himself wrote I do not recommend it . The rest has not aged well . The work of his I remember most enjoying reading was Dreams . Maybe start there ?

Hmm , I don't have a definitive answer for you . I jumped in with Psychology and Alchemy which is an interesting read , but not terribly laymen friendly . Then again I read it when I was 20 or so , so your mileage may vary . I'll try to remember to write something here about The Red Book when I finish it .

Try Gnosis of the Cosmic Christ . It's interesting , but written in a more spiritual manner in comparison to Pagels' Gnostic Gospel .
