I'll actually take back some of my criticism. Going through the comments it seems that there are a lot of intelligent people having a conversation about the subject
My issue was that it seemed like a lazy and convenient thing for the writer to say, though it looks like I'm wrong

Either say something intelligent about abortion from an angle that hasn't been examined, and is worth attention, or stop spouting meaningless (and in my opinon, insincere) platitudes.

Gotta love how sites all the way from A.V Club to Buzzfeed value "starting a conversation" so much more highly than, say, having that conversation.
