I wish a greater effort was made to explain how many of these monuments went up in the 1960's. That they are racist kitsch, not historical statuary.

We all know Rosie was programmed for Jane.

*scratctches head* So, you're serious? I mean, your hypothetical introduction leaves out the couple's status—married or not? But this is a theme song for a sixties kids show, anyway. And you aren't joking. Guess that makes you the joke.

I can't tell if you're joking.

She's introduced as "Jane, his wife." Pretty much how even the most radical feminist would put it.

Yes.

Which is a totally valid position—not that you need me to validate your position. :)

Thank you.

You are advocating censorship. That is a bad thing.

I don't think that was the issue. For one thing, it wasn't nationwide, just West Coast specific. For another, there were far too many Germans (and Italians) for the government to successfully isolate without a major depletion of fighting men. I'm not saying racism had nothing to do with it, but it wasn't the whole

I think people are doing more than that.

Who writes a song comparing their dying friend to farting?

So, I'm torn because, yes, I abhor that the internment camps existed, but the Japanese government fucking bombed us and their military committed a great many atrocities during the war—Haruki Murakami has written about these atrocities, himself. One way to combat evil is through mockery, even dumb mockery of physical

Don't agree completely (if we were "racist to the core" there would have been a different decision in Loving v. Virginia, for one thing), but more than enough to upvote.

You wanted authenticity from a musical comedy teen drama? You're right, that isn't what I was looking for there.

How about all of that?

*scratches head* No closer to making sense of it.

Its commonsense not to explore controversial, pertinent issues? A McCarthy anti-communist committee could not have said it better.

It was called Rome. Good series.

Well, it was a show set in high school. What did you expect? Leathermen and Log Cabin Republicans? I can see making your criticisms about Will and Grace, but I think Glee covered what I'd expect a teen show to cover, and showed a nice variety of LGBT characters.
