I've never seen the series. The way you describe it makes it sound like I'd have a problem with that, too. Sorry I don't know enough to contribute more to the discussion. I hate the term "problematic" because I find it passive-aggressive. But I'd condemn the show myself under the circumstances you describe.

I don't remotely comprehend what you're saying. What isn't even fun anymore?

Only an idiot could disagree that criticizing a show sight unseen because it deals with a controversial topic is a bad idea.

I'd say Glee presented several. I think "stereotypical" is kind of a hard word to use here. Is showing an effeminate character stereotypical or just honest to a type of gay male? Is showing gays facing oppression or nobly defying oppression stereotypical tropes or depictions of gay experience? Not saying I can't get

I know Murphy's work largely from Popular, Glee and Feud. What problems do you have with his depiction of race, and why are you using the faux-objective term "problematic" when what you mean is you have a problem with it?

This is silly. Of course we can. There are a milion examples. Schools controlling content in their publications. The old movie Production Code. The Comics Code Authority. Censorship can be government-directed, but doesn't have to be.

Citizens of the Roman Republic did this, too. I think it was a more common practice in the ancient world than we realize. But I don't think the movie is glorifying the practice, anyway.

It's actually a better idea than ever. Only an idiot or a strongly repressive mentality would think otherwise.

Who on earth would ever miss an Arby's?

You know the real-life Hank Hill?

But interestingly, the name Jessica…

I predicted awhile ago the racial comedy of the show would end up misunderstood. The character is meant as a politically incorrect joke. If they were trying to portray a believable Indian, it would be one thing, but that isn't what they were doing. Plus, they clearly wanted as much if the main cast to play multiple

Agree, but wonder if the headline refers to how media insiders envisioned her more than audiences.

Love The Notorious Bettie Page. It seems to me that it deserves much more attention than it gets.

Lying about every example. I put lines on either side of the word "fascism" to make it stand out. In this and every other instance, as I said, I revised the posts before they were commented on, only to make them clearer.

I'm glad to see her story out there—it pisses me off to think how much the show reference that pilot in clip shows or histories, and ignores who was responsible, who gave them a hit series.

Give an example. I've written posts and added to them before anyone has commented. That's hardly a crime, or disingenuous. I don't alter comments after anyone has responded.

"Regularly" meaning the one time I corrected a spelling error? You learn your rhetorical techniques working at Fox News or something?

DJ was thwarted in his attempt to appropriate Homer Simpson's gummy Venus de Milo defense.
