Because pirates like women (other than the ten percent who prefer men), and pirates aren't any more likely to go after women the fair and moral way than they go after economic gain the fair and moral way? Plus it's a ride with no actual sex or even kissing, so nothing for even marginally mature people to be upset

No. Those are different characters. Originally, after the auction scene, there was a pirate chasing a woman, and then around the bend we saw the same woman chasing the pirate with a rolling pin.

And Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!

Dumb. It was stupid when they removed the pirate chasing the damsel (who in the next scene was chasing him with a rolling pin), it's worse now. Might as well remove the ride altogether.

It will probably come. Actually, in the 70's, there was a cool black figure in the comics named Nubia who shared much of the backstory Diana has in the film (they were molded from clay together by Hippolyte, but Mars stole Nubia to raise as his own).

Uh—yeah. Anything not required is a luxury. That's pretty much the definition. And no, it isn't deeply silly. Insisting you must have a cell phone (as opposed to, you want one, and like having one because they make things more convenient) is deeply silly.

They are luxuries because they are unnecessary. You don't have to have them as part of your phone to live or work, and you don't have to have a cell phone to live or work most jobs. They are great to have, but they are not required for survival. Thus, luxuries. This isn't difficult.

You are actually going to compare having a cell phone to vaccination? You're doing that? "Wahh! I want my toys! I've got to be able to carry my music and movie collection with me everywhere and be able to Google at a moments notice! I can't call into an answering service for messages! Wah!"

No, it isn't. It's a very nice thing to have. You can contact employers, keep up with assignments, and generally live your life quite easily without.

No, they really don't. I say this as someone who has been in the work force for over thirty years.

Yes, because people never escaped human or animal beasts before the cell phone existed. Please, grow up.

No, running water and effective pluming is not the same as a luxury device with music, internet, calendar, calculator, and various other apps. You might as well compare retaining a stylish hairdresser to having health insurance.

I recognized how our pampered first world society has made this seem crucial. You have a home phone and an answering machine or call notes, you're fine. First World Problems.

Irrelevant. You don't need your "communication device" to have email, internet, iTunes, etc. You could have a friggin' pager.

I kinda agree about cell phones: a luxury item people have decided is a necessity. And worse, an item they believe must be upgraded every few years. On the other hand, phone companies will actually sell a phone to whoever wants one; insurance companies are a bit more resistant.

You put "real" in quotations marks, as if Superman doesn't actually exist? How dare your, sir!

Ugh, that title. Movie might be good, though.

And I'm not saying it definitely didn't happen. It may have, and it's awful if it did. I'm saying it's perfectly reasonable to say "I'm not so sure" under the circumstances.

Baldwin now seems too much like Trump for the skit to be funny.

I want South Park to do a parody of L&O: Special Victim's Unit, featuring Jimmy and Timmy as cops, Nathan and Mimsy as perps.
