I'm actually not American, but I know what you mean.

Nazis in riot gear in the streets, Trump in the White House…
I always get the impression from his films that he doesn't understand what story he's telling or if there are any sort of meaning behind the story. Hence why I think they can be read a lot of different ways. There is no real core to latch on to, because the guy is just making pretty images of cool shit.
I was wary about this film because of the length, subject matter and lukewarm reviews, but I ended up loving it. It's a beautiful film in every single way, complex and even quite entertaining in an often dry/harrowing way.
Kind of a forgettable episode, but still fun.
True the budget isn't that big and I leaned on that too for a while, but seeing as Variety is now straight up writing articles about how bad the film is, before it's even been released, I do think the stench that emanates from it makes even financial success irrelevant.
The negativity surrounding this film is off the charts. I don't think I have seen anything like it.
I watched 300 in 2006, but this film is so much better I don't really care.
When you haven't seen the film this sounds like a joke.
I feel bad for Nichols. He was soo close to hitting the zeitgeist… but totally didn't.
When I weren't frolicking in Norwegian woods or smashing toy cars into each other, I was reading comic books and watching things on our delightful B/W TV. Oddly enough all the things I watched were in colour in my memory.
That damn press release has really made everyone go into overdrive.
Thanks, didn't know that he changed it.
Is black not an okay word to use any more?
The Dark Knight was some years before, but you're right about Loki. I had forgotten that one.
Yeah it would probably have been better if it was shorter. But for it was, I was surprised it worked so well.
Hey, don't knock the men in red diapers film, it had a lot of slow motion and…
I'm drawing a blank on another movie from 2012 that did the villain thing?
If by sucks you mean it kicks ass, then yeah, sure.
I watched Skyfall too. And yeah, that one is better. It didn't feel as fresh when it arrived as Casino Royale did though.
