I haven't read any of the drafts, just going by the film. It wants to do so many things, it at times made me think it would've worked slightly better as a mini series. I mean, it takes something like an hour or more before we even get to the cards.

I like it more than you it seems. The action is crisp and exiting, the badguy is cool, Bond is cool and the girl is cool. it doesn't reinvent the wheel or anything, it "just" does Bond well.
I watched that one yesterday. It also tries to cram a whole lot of stuff in there, but actually feels shorter.
And it was unnerving, creepy and weird.
I don't think ending the film early would solve the problem, because it's a fundamental problem with the script overall. They're trying to tell too much. Cutting smaller bits and pieces here and there would maybe help a little, but what was really needed was another draft.
Isn't there only one shot like that in the film?
I believe their house was pretty nice. In a bland sort of way.
I saw it at a film festival. The theater was packed!
He's a brutal relentless beast through that entire sequence. Another thing only vaguely related: the entire chase only happens because Bond's colleague keeps touching his earpiece.
In Skyfall when he enters the casino the very first thing he does is make sure Moneypenny stops touching her earpiece.
Guess he would…
I watched Casino Royale again a few days ago.
I never saw Aeon flux, but I did come across a fun little thriller on Netflix not long ago, The Invitation. Apparently it's by the director of such classics as Aeon Flux and Jennifer's Body.
This show hopefully doesn't become a full on wrestling show in the next season.
That picture might be Paul Walker style CGI.
Sorry, I don't have a link. I'll look for one though.
I see so many comments repeating the no reason thing and I don't really get it. It's a choice, it's about aesthetics and it works for the story. That's the reason.
To be fair, it's a niche genre.
Hope there's a different genre that can take over when this series ends.
Ultimatum's ending is the reason I haven't seen the latest film. It works perfectly as a trilogy and as you say comes full circle, no idea why I would want to ruin that experience.
Shooting, fighting and chasing are not action. Bergman is action.
Killing her is one of the things that makes the film work so well.
