I don't know why he brought it up…perhaps for the same reason he mentioned other people worked on it as well.

Koch Brothers!!!!

In other words, what you're saying is, "I didn't bother watching the clip..I just read a snippet in my Facebook feed from DailyKos, and boy am I outraged!"

Yes. I'm a troll. Now, put me on your "ignore" list and you'll never have to hear anything mean ever again. La la la la la.

Good point. But how is it "broadening the discourse" by saying that "Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was moved to defend the concept of slavery" when, in fact, he was rebutting people on the Right and his viewers who were having a snit about Michelle's mentioning it in her speech? He didn't need to add that the

Calling someone a "troll" really is weak cheese. "No, YOU'RE a troll!"

You skipped the best part. Later that night O'Reilly said "that's all for the Factor, read one of my 'Killing Whoever' books and tune in tomorrow night", which was the same as saying, essentially, "I sure do wish we'd bring back slavery. Slavery was super-awesome!" (hat-tip to Media Matters for deciphering that

Hopefully soon! I hate people who fuck up the echo chamber!

And so now, your colleague, Dennis DeClaudio, in another story about this, states that "Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was moved to defend the concept of slavery".

"Fox News host Bill O’Reilly was moved to defend the concept of slavery…"

Reminds me of the old joke, "…but I had friends who worked on that Death Star"

I see your point, though I'm a little unsettled by your assertion that you and I are clever enough to get it, but many of his viewers aren't. That comes off a bit supercilious. (yeah, I know…they're Fox News viewers so they must be morons)

"I love the American people" - Joe Biden

I love how Che and Jost, sitting next to Matthews, can't even hide the look that they're fulfilling an assignment. ("AGAIN with Matthews? I thought we only had to do that at the RNC…")

I was there, too. What I mostly remember from that time on SNL (the post-golden years of '88-'92..imo) was a general veer towards the juvenile, ("Schmitt's Gay", "Canteen Boy", "Makin' Copies"). Besides the occasional Hartman-as-Clinton sketch, (which usually was less about policy and more about eating fast food

Thanks for the reply, but again I think you're missing something. There were, as I pointed out in another comment, people on the Right who were (wrongly) annoyed or bothered or pissed off about Michelle's comments regarding the construction of the White House. (some were even saying that it wasn't true) O'Reilly

Where did he follow up with "but is that really so bad"? The irony is, O'Reilly was actually defending her remarks to those who were (wrongly) irked by her saying them.

I wonder how many producers/directors/writers of high-octane action films shit their pants these days worrying that some lunatic will kill a bunch of people just days or weeks prior to release doing essentially what they are depicting in their film.

"…but O’Reilly excused the whole slavery thing, saying that at least the slaves “hired” to build the White House were fed well…"

"frat boy conservatism in the Chris Farley-Adam Sandler era as well" Huh? I guess I missed how "Opera Man" and the Matt Foley sketches were, in actuality, subversively delivered arguments for supply-side economics and Welfare Reform.
