Even though I never said that, if you like to make up points that no one argued, and argue against them, knock yourself out. Some people want to find misery in anything. That's on them.

Of course not, but we are dealing with one of the most popular shows of all time. On stage, when it left its initial run in 1980, it was the longest running musical of all time. The movie, when adjusted for inflation, is the 28th highest grossing movie ever. This story and the songs are almost universally loved.

Actually, enjoying a show for what it is is not mindless. Criticizing it in the way above shows a complete lack of understanding of what the show was about. Mindlessly agreeing with what the critic told you to think—now that is square, Daddy-o.

It's a shame you feel that way. Sometimes you need to sit back, relax, and enjoy a musical for what it is. Grease is not trying to change the world or make a statement like say, Rent. It's a simple high school love story that pays homage to a simpler time and the early days of Rock N Roll.

Says the guy going off on some fake outrage behind his keyboard.

Wow! I love that you're so outraged. Why don't you make up a fictional character and argue with him? The stretch you got from this thread is hilarious. But again, hiding behind a keyboard. You're so courageous.

Seems to be you're the one whining. Besides, if people like me stayed off the internet, people like you couldn't act like an internet tough guy behind the keyboard.

Cool! I hope you hate all people that like Grease.

You need to work on your reading comprehension.

And you seriously think that it's about some sort of attempted rape? Really? In Grease?

That's the cynical way to look at it. They BOTH took their jackets/sweaters off. Together. He's hardly the first guy who went nuts after seeing his girl's makeover. But the intent was still the same—they changed for each other to make the other happy. He said flat out that he would do anything to get Sandy. That

It's really not sexism that guys want to have sex, and girls have the power to say no. That's the way it is.

No one said that, but it would have been more true to the times and the story. Again, the story took place in 1959.

Really? Because if you watched the whole thing, you will see that the boy changed himself first to get the girl. These are two people that got each other out of their respective shells and to try new things. Danny went and got the varsity letter to impress Sandy. Sandy changed her look to impress Danny. Seems

Nothing. But what IS snooty is taking a show that is about a high school romance, a nostalgic look at the 1950s, and an all around feel good story, and turning it INTO something about sexism.

Just when you think you can't read a more ridiculous comment, someone cries racism.

At no point did I ever confuse my opinion with fact. Surprised you did. Did a book on musicals tell you to think that?

Yes, here I am, formulating my own opinion, based on seeing something that I watched first hand, not repeating what "books about musicals" say like some sort of sheep.

You're right of course. But that's the political correctness that the world is stuck dealing with these days. That part of course was unrepresentative of the time, and certainly different from the movie.

That's a completely different story. Grease is a period piece. It's nostalgia and it takes place in a different era and time. It's not representative of today's society, but that's kind of the point. It's a fun look back to a different era.
