Pardon? Is this some RLM reference or did you leave out a word when commenting on a nearly year-old thread?

ALSO as much as "Sell Out" ruled 1997, the cited Reel Big Fish release in this two-week period is just an EP, which is not to say it doesn't count, but it was neither the band's semi-charming self-deprecating Turn the Radio Off nor the less charming, "ironically"-but-actually-kinda-serious bombastic Why Do They Rock

Ten. Some gifts, not all in regular rotation. And I am a dad now, so I think my fashion sense gets some leeway. But still. WTF is wrong with me. (What's wrong with me is that Uniqlo has made a LOT of Star Wars shirts that I love.)

Get ready for some unsolicited thoughts from a guy who likes all eight (ALL EIGHT) live-action Star Wars movies so far!

The best bit, hilarity-wise, is the number of shots (at least three) of a speedometer shooting from — get this — 35ish miles per hour to — VROOOOOM! — almost 60 miles per hour! Why actually shoot an exciting car chase when you can imply that a car is making the same acceleration as someone nonchalantly entering onto a

The above picture is not where he's living at the beginning of the film.

I mean, I'm no Fun Ethan, but…

I do grow tired of all the "Marvel does it again!!!" hype. Dr. Strange, in particular, was one where I thought it was very clever and engaging visually, but the rest of the movie was kind of dull. FWIW, I wanted to review Girls Trip because I like comedies, not because I dislike movies that don't have superheroes.

Well, I'm not usually the one reviewing the Marvel movies, and I don't think a "B" review ignores a movie's flaws (when I give something a "B" I'm usually pretty clear about its limitations). But I'll cop to liking a lot of them more than I liked Girls Trip. I would say in this case, this movie is trying to do

Another factor is that different critics review different movies (in fact, three different people reviewed this one, Spider-Man, and Guardians). The grade really only reflects what that particular critic thought of that particular movie.

I guess because Sam is in New York so often? I mean, she works there, so it makes sense, but it didn't scan for me. Maybe also because they made a big deal of Ethan and Lisa coming to New York, where everyone else is, without mentioning (I don't think) that Sam doesn't really live there.

I'm a huge sucker for episodes that focus on a single character's POV so that sounds great! And I do think that's a cool idea for this one — if the show had felt more balanced, I doubt the affair storyline would have bothered me as much.

Unfortunately, as a freelancer I just go after assignments that are made available. If I'm pitching something in particular, it'll be a one-off essay, rather than regular coverage (those decisions are made elsewhere). I'm also not caught up on Dear White People at all, although I thought the movie was terrific and

FTR, I like LOVE a lot more than this show.

I don't make those kind of decisions just being a freelancer, but as I've said elsewhere, it can be difficult figuring out what warrants episode-by-episode coverage, and the nature of episode-by-episode coverage (especially when episodes are released all at once) it that sometimes once you figure out that show X is

Well, some of them.

Great point, actually. In fact, an actual friend of mine is a really good YA author, AND she went to Harvard, and I doubt many people are turning up their nose at her actual published books at alumni gatherings. So it seems like maybe some projection going on there, tipping the writers' hands.

As I mentioned in an earlier review, one of the show's co-creators is a novelist (and a cousin of a friend of mine, apparently?), and her father is a lit scholar, lit textbook author, and fiction writer… so I imagine there's some familiar snobbery at work here. I mean, maybe they come by that tendency honestly and

My limited understanding is that adoption can be just as expensive/time-consuming/grueling, with the added bonus of extreme unpredictability. (Though obviously it still CAN happen.)
