She can be based on someone and still be fictional! In fact, is based on someone, is still fictional.

People really dislike her, right? Or some people do? I kinda dig her, or at least I did in Spanish Prisoner and State and Main.
I appreciate the sentiment, but if I did extensive pre-review research on the real-life subjects of every or even half the movies I see based on something out of real life, I would never have any time to actually write reviews or, indeed, see movies.
I'm not sure I agree with the idea of the headline as the review's "lead" — the headline often refers to something that happens later in the review, not right away.
Aw, that's great to hear! And a great example of how long these Disney movies last; I remember seeing Mulan as a teenager almost twenty years ago.
I'm a little bummed about the idea of Disney doing proper sequels to their big movies (I'd much prefer to see shorts like "Frozen Fever," even though I didn't love it, than feature-length follow-ups), but I do think the characters could sustain another adventure, even if I'd rather they didn't. Though now I'm going to…
To be fair, I think Bryan Singer (who I generally like) poisoned the well a little bit with titles that bring to mind Jack and the Beanstalk.
I think Disney gets a pass for returning to that lucrative princess well when their non-princess movies are also numerous and generally high-quality.
I'm a late adopter — I admit I kind of thought of She-Hulk as a punchline for a long time, but I loved that last series, short-lived as it was, so now I'm down for more Jennifer Walters ass-kicking and also legal counsel.
I liked Olaf a great deal, but perhaps mileage varies on that one. I also found both Anna and Elsa really interesting, and though I can say the same for some past princesses or quasi-princesses, I'm also used to the Disney formula of finding the sidekicks funny and the leads kind of bland (this is even somewhat the…
(1.) I love this thread.
(2.) I love your username and this reminds me that the She-Hulk IN: HULK series is nigh!
It does have yet another end-credits "pro" version of the big soundtrack song that is destined to be less popular than the actual movie version — at least I hope so. Nothing against Demi Lovato but it was pretty satisfying that record-buyers (or whatever we want to call people who pay for music) seemed way more…
I almost bought a Dunce Chicken the other day. They were even selling a plush version of the pig that comes with an accompanying bonus chicken.
That's kind of silly, because like any other comment about this movie, the head doesn't *really* put you in a position of agreeing or disagreeing with it right off the bat unless you've seen the movie! Not least because it doesn't describe the nature of the progress.
As they sometimes say around here, it can be two things.
I'd go further and say Lilo & Stitch is better than most of the renaissance ones, too! Top five for me, easily.
Do you guys who find this really vexing read a lot of film criticism? That's an honest question. I know not every critic gets into that stuff every time (I'd say the same is true, in fact, about the movie critics here), but is this really something you've never encountered when reading other movie reviews?
But it's also central to what I thought of the film: It is yet another Princess Adventure narrative, and on its face it's not especially original, but the movie also tweaks its own formula enough to be interesting. If you want to know more about how that happens beyond "progress," you know, I wrote this whole review…
This and Frozen don't really have a traditional big crazy bad guy. I find that refreshing and interesting; there are lots of ways to make movies and they don't have to involve a supervillain falling to his death!
Merida is a character in a Pixar movie, so as much as she's subsumed into the Disney Princess lineup, I don't really think of it that way. But I liked Brave a lot — more than a lot of people, is my impression. Mulan is great. Jasmine is fine, but she's not really the hero of Aladdin. For that matter, I think Frozen…
