It really doesn't make a lot of financial sense to open a Christmas movie later than early December unless it's presumed to be a real quick-kill kind of box office deal. Any Christmas movie is going to drop like a rock the weekend after Christmas, so opening it a couple of weekends before Christmas is basically

Yeah, I love them, and like the Treats follow-ups a lot, including this one. They're not as good as Treats, but they're surprisingly decent for such a novelty sound.

It's hard for me to say for sure because I've only seen the 120fps version, but part of me wonders if the super-normal version would play better for a lot of people. It would lose that uncanny visual weirdness/interest, but it might work better as a modest, relatively small-scale drama. I know a lot of people who saw

No, I meant the other thing. But if you'd like to quibble with the fact that Nancy Allen didn't actually die in any of these movies, and is in fact still alive, go for it.

OK

She's proposing 12 paid weeks of family leave to care for a seriously ill family member or new child. That's a policy. Do you mean like, it doesn't have a catchy name?

I'll be sure to pass the message along to this Jessup Hassenberger fellow. ;)

Hey, if that's what you need to think to not have a conversation with me, I'm game!

Clinton wants to make paid family leave a national/mandatory thing. Fits with her general career-long MO of trying to help women/children/families. So, uh. There's one.

I know they talked about having a script called 23 Skidoo that would be a good part for Cage… though I feel like also I read that he didn't love working with them?! Although at this point, who is he to say no? I know leading roles probably pay the bills but he could really stand to take some more character actor roles

Weather Man is a huge credit to not just Cage, but Gore Verbinski, who made it in the midst of his "I can do an interesting movie in any genre" phase. (Maybe the two Pirates sequels were just a break from that, because Lone Ranger is a pretty good western and his new one looks cool.)

I know but I'm old now, disappointment hurts less. I was disappointed in Suicide Squad and also kind of enjoyed it! Even though I wished it was all or even mostly as good as Margot Robbie being awesome.

Love Vern! And that's a great way of putting it.

The one near me — in New York City, no less — selected to screen it twice a day, rather than a full screen's worth of times. I think the theatrical release of this one is pretty much in name only before the DVD comes out in a couple of weeks.

Well, it doesn't sound like you think of him as unintentionally funny! I just got a little weary of the "lol Nic Cage so crazy" stuff. I agree that he probably doesn't care how people perceive him, and I'd guess a lot of the stuff people think of as being accidentally funny is intentional.

I've been meaning to! Love the Clowes graphic novel and I was bummed when Alexander Payne didn't wind up making it. Harrelson seems like such odd casting but I'm hoping he can make it work.

I think it comes down to interpretation. A lot of people obviously chose stuff directly inspired by the election. I chose something roughly contemporary with the election that resonated even more for me because of the election. It's not like I said "oh I really loved last week's episode of You're the Worst."

White-on-white race baiting is the worst kind, I'm told.

That is an interesting opinion and I do not share it.
