I interpreted the scene when I first watched it as Walt putting on a performance to alienate Skyler — a way to give her emotional freedom and closure, to say goodbye and move on by means of being cruel. In a way, I wasn't totally wrong….

No. Todd in this episode is much more ambivalent than that.

I got it partly wrong myself. I knew it was all a performance, but I was convinced that the performance wasn't for the cops, that it had nothing to do with them. I was wrong.
