During the live feed, the hockey announcers did explain the shootout rules while the Zamboni was out clearing the ice, but that was cut for Primetime. I did think the International Shootout rules caught them by surprise.

I wish NBC would boot Pierre McGuire from that team. He is always butting in with useless info.

Oh man thats fantastic! "waffle boarded" is my favorite

Apparently… huh.
It was TJ Oshie -vs Russia. I HATE shootouts, but that was awesome.

I hope people who dont usually watch NHL action are watching USA-RUS this morning and are discovering the awesomeness of lead announcer Doc Emrick
He has about 100 different way to describe a pass, from "shoveled" and "pitchforked" to "swung geometrically"

The figure skating was. The difference between 2010 and 2016 is that Kabletown has more of a cable presence (NBCSN, Universal Sports, plus USA/CNBC/MSNBC), so I expect more live events on other Comcast owned properties (Bravo, Esquire Net. Hell the Weather Channel barely shows weather nowadays. Air the Marathon live

DOnt get me wrong, Ive been watching curling. its just the taped delayed NBC produced stuff that runs during the day.(Ive fallen for the women's British team!) Its just sometimes the US has been playing at midnight and its nice to watch that live.

I think you can point to the 2010 Vancouver games are a blueprint on how NBC will cover

the transitions between Rebecca Low and Al Michaels have been awesome. One day Micheals is laying down curling bets (if you dont know about Michaels and his subtle betting line references during NFL games you are missing out) and then this morning he wrote a check to pay off the debt. HIlarious.

Supposedly, the Primetime announcers are recorded live (heh) for the playback.

I have checked into the late night (my time) curling streams on the legal NBC feed and its nice because no commercial breaks, but its just a British guy doing basic play by play (an NBC analyst is needed for me because I dont know the ins and outs of curling) and run into a buffering problem (which seems to come at

Jeremy Abbott just provided NBC Primetime with a storyline

Speaking of Weir, its interesting to compare the announcing between his crew and the Primetime crew. When the eventual Bronze medalists crashed on a jump, Weir/Lipinski were heartbroken on air where as the Primetime crew didnt say anything.

its hard to show live events Primetime US time because its like 4 or 5am in Sochi

They did show Mens short track the other day, and the Womens short track starts today.
What has gotten zero Primetime coverage, as far as I can tell, is the cross country ski type events (Biathlon, pursuit, etc) and curling.

the lone Mexico participant, Hubertus von Hohenlohe, won the Olympics fashion show because his outfit looks like he his in a mariachi band.

Yeah, I didnt understand that either.
Im guessing they had a more technically difficult routine than the 4th place team, but still they biffed it twice.
This kind of stuff, judgement scoring, is why I cant get into skating and gymnastics.

yeah, those refs were not the best. woof

with 2016 Games being in Rio, I imagine NBC's Primetime slate will be all gymnastics.

the NHL would HATE the NBA/basketball being a Winter Games sport. It would steal the spotlight hockey gets.
Plus, I dont think the poobahs that run the NBA want a 2-3 week break in the middle of the season. The Euroleagues might not like it either.
