I actually don't watch TBBT, but loved him in the Normal Heart. Seemed just like the one character try to hold it all together and keep the normalcy of his life while all fell apart around him, but then his great funeral monologue where he gets to show the strain. He did great work there.

I took that kind of half smile from Tate as a indication that, no matter how much Marco let him suffer, as long as he was alive, Tate would have the upper hand so to speak. To me, this makes Marco's acceptance of Fausto's "taking care of it" a natural progression of his story.
