Yeah, the general theory was that Trebek's knee surgery shuffled the taping dates unexpectedly and she had a prior commitment for the date they were ready to do tapings again, hence they gave her a break to let her come back.

Congrats on Jeopardy! for making Newswire today.
Right, the rule was introduced after Chu's run. It's never been put into use on air and Alex has never explained it on air, but we know the rule exists because contestants have revealed it on messageboards/twitter. The threat of the ring-in question has effectively eliminated the playing for the tie strategy.
Get me Todd VanDerWerff's non-union Mexican equivalent!
Wikipedia says the first season is available on iTunes, but a check of the iTunes Store says this is not the case anymore.
1. Bobby Thomson's pennant clinching homer at the Polo Grounds in 1951. Rest of the game was pretty good too. Having read DeLillo's Underworld, I was practically there anyhow.
2. Any game of the 1909 World Series to see Honus Wagner & Ty Cobb play each other. Game 5's 8-6 barnburner would probably be a good one if I…
D.B. Sweeney. Love Eight Men Out. Field of Dreams isn't bad, but it really isn't about the ballplayers. Sorry Ray.

Hello friends!
Grand (fall of 1990 after Cheers)? I have zero memory of that show, but I feel like I must have watched it because none of the other networks ran a sitcom at that time slot. Memory hole!
I'm going to be watching this. Should be fun. And a partial recording of the CBS broadcast does exist, but it is in legal limbo because the owners of the tape and the NFL can't agree on a price. And since it can't be shown until the NFL blesses it, it is stuck in limbo.

PSA: The Packers/Cardinals game is very likely to push back the SNL airing (except on the West Coast).
Sounds like you should stay off that uncle's lawn.
