Dial it back a bit, chief. Take a deep breath and lay off the CAPS before you hurt yourself.

"Turnabout Intruder" and "Spock's Brain" would like to have a word with you.

I completely disagree with your assessment. I never got the feeling that Superman killing Zod was there specifically for shock or twist purposes.

Meaning, there are MANY who argue that specific characters cannot change because of [x core component]. It's abundantly evident in the threads I mentioned.

Yes, if you're taking RT as an objective measure of quality… which it is decidedly clearly not.

Haven't been following the Man of Steel or Batman v Superman threads eh?

And clearly the Nolan brothers required Goyer's clearly exceptional writing. Clearly.

He may have been the least essential Beatle… but he was still essential and certainly more so (to his group) than Posh f*cking Spice.

On the flipside, there's always those guys who maintain that "this character must NEVER change because of [x core component]".

Umm… Goyer co-wrote those Batman scripts with the Nolan brothers.

You should definitely go check out the Batman v Superman threads if you're really looking for super cool peeps. Enjoy!

They were ridiculous and vacuous at the time. Contemptible? Nahh…

How dare you! Ringo was a FABulous drummer, goddammit. Not to mention, he actually had an endearing personality and wit to boot.

Get off my lawn.

When Chuck Norris does a push up, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down.

No, it was an editing decision. Lester had final cut and deliberately left out any subsequent scenes showing Zod in jail. Donner may have intended for Zod to be alive but clearly Lester decided against it.

I guess I'm going to hell but this article has made me guffaw like I haven't guffawed in quite some time. Well done, interwebs. Well done!

That "black and white" viewpoint and "big blue boyscout" narrative is precisely what makes the Superman franchise so tired and thin. I suppose I just take umbrage in the notion that Superman has to fit within those established, narrow parameters.

Unfortunately, some people have placed Superman in the "Jesus with laser vision" box (great analogy, btw!) and will forever damn any tonal shift towards something more grim and gritty.

What you're describing isn't an "editing error" it was an editing decision. Very different.
