I'm not throwing around "revolutionary" — the interwebs are littered with articles that support the notion.

There's a f*cking lot more to a movie than simply having great direction, characters, and a clever screenplay.
I cannot begin to understand the contrarian backlash against it.
I never said Star Wars was comparable to 2001. I merely offered two examples of science fiction/fantasy films that were denied the Best Picture award.
They can both be robbed, no?
Schadenfreude-much?
Star Wars losing the Best Picture award didn't hurt its place in history but it certainly was a big, big miss for the Academy. Right up there with 2001.
I actually found the second half of Full Metal Jacket more compelling than the first half. Ironically, I just watched it again on the weekend.
Room was an incredibly, emotionally difficult film to sit through. As a parent of a 3 year old daughter it was particularly agonizing on so many levels.
I keep hearing this but I can honestly say that I didn't find the cinematography particularly innovative or memorable.
Did you watch the documentary? The background about her neglectful parents and absolute leech of a bf were particularly powerful. It played out as a tragedy to me more than a "hey, another drug addicted, drunk celeb couldn't handle the pressure" story.

I'm sure that's exactly what the Bills were saying when they lost 4 straight Super Bowls.
To be fair, the general public doesn't care about those awards.
I always loved how Ratner couldn't even get side one of Led Zeppelin IV right. "Kashmir"? Come on dude.
My wife asked that very sunscreen question while we were watching the last episode. Jason looked like he was burned badly but the rest of the tribe looks no worse for the wear.
After the AvP atrocities my expectations were at an all-time low for Predators — as a result, I'm not sure if it was actually any good or if the bar was set so low that it couldn't help but be, at the very least, mildly decent-ish (I seem to recall kinda enjoying it).
But Vader's sexuality is not essential to the story. He could be bisexual, he could have provided some of his Sith semen to a Galactic sperm bank … who cares?
The prequels are entirely inessential.
