It's a technical masterpiece. Other than that, it's not a masterpiece by any means.
They got it right. Though a fine film, Birdman was the overrated piece of tosh from 2014. Also Ignatiy isn't an Innaritu fan by any means.
They don't include 2015 films. True Grit and Kids Are Alright was good but doesn't qualify on a list like this imo. Ben Wheatley's Kill List is a much better and a much more impressive film than Sightseers imo. I've never heard of Breathing though but maybe I should have checked it out
Boyhood got more critical reception than Tree of Life because it's a lot more accessible and a perfect blend of mainstream and arthouse, whilst Tree of Life was staunchly an arthouse film.
nope
Dogtooth is your next film to watch then!
no
No. you must! Amazing film
I absolutely loved the execution of this film. The flow and pacing of the film was just right but i agree the sex scenes are the opposite of erotic.
The Great Beauty is criminally overlooked for these kinds of things, but then again, so was The Hunt
Le Havre was too stylized for it to completely work for me but I really need to see Turin Horse and Pina
I just didn't believe the immediate friendship and loyalty between the two leads otherwise The Rover would have been great for me too.
