That's my favorite Outer Limits episode. Saw it when it first aired, and I think I saw it once more in the eighties, when I could recognize Carroll O'Conner. I didn't remember that Whitney was in it, though.

I would argue that John Reese is as much of a superhero as Oliver Queen. He even wears a suit. The main difference is their respective choice of weapons. Certainly the machine (and now Samaritan) takes the show into SF territory.
