It is not "obviously untrue," Jesus Christ go watch the show. It is on Netflix. Troi and Crusher feature prominently in all of the major story arcs of the show (except for season 2, when McFadden left) and their characters grew and developed over the course of seven years. No it isn't. It has sexist aspects to it of course, but compared to most of the shit that has been on TV in the last 60 years, it is a beacon of inclusion and tolerance. Especially the stuff that came with TNG, and all the stuff afterwards.
All other arguments aside, ripping on the pre-Abrams Star Trek films and movies (and their creators) for sexism is out in left field. Star Trek, particularly TNG and all iterations afterwards, had women playing prominent roles in all the series, and of course eventually had a female captain. That is fucking huge.
