That S Hanley/Wolstonecraft/Scanlon line-up was around just as long (a decade or so, with added Brix and others here and there) but I guess your point is that the Greenway/Spurr/Melling trio is garbage by comparison.

Both 'Tainted Love' and 'Say Hello Wave Goodbye' are on their album 'Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret'. It vacillates between awesome no-budget synth-pop like a glam Suicide and dreadful rubbish. It's told from the perspective of living in poverty in Northern England so relatable context may help.

We have seen Arnold's place yes: he lives in a flat. In the episode it appeared in, a neighbour in his building yelled at him for not rinsing his cans and then in the end of the episode Arnold gave that neighbour the talking robotic seal thing he'd unwittingly inherited from his dead grandfather.

When I saw them a month or two back, Ben mentioned they had a female partner during the intro to one of the songs.

It's become a lot more of a ladz' band: the band's 87% male these days (whereas it was more like 4 guys/3 girls originally), Kim's much more of a marginal presence than Aleks, and all the lyrics are about football.

They exhaled and rolled their eyes in unison, you might say.

This isn't the only time the show has reminded me of House of Leaves - I wonder if that's a coincidence (similar tropes and source material) or whether the Duffers brushed up on their Danielewski?
