Jamie Bamber once gave me a Zune… but I don't hold it against him.
Whenever I watch that episode, I sing "Billy Don't Be a Hero" quietly under my breath the whole time.
The best way to describe this movie is simply: "Imagine if David Lynch directed an adaptation of Dune."
The problem with Stephen as a character is that most of his struggles are internal. On the outside, he plays the dutiful servant. He keeps up the facade even in the face of madness and horror. In the book, we feel his struggle because all those chapters are told from his POV.
Yeah… the show is maddeningly unspecific about this point. Maybe the next episode will hone in on it… but the furthest thing from the Gentleman's mind is to make Stephen the king of Lost Hope. The Gentleman is the king of Lost Hope!
I agree. I always saw the Man with the Thistledown Hair as being more charming and flighty. His cruelty is childlike and he thinks he's actually helping, but his conception of the world is so alien to ours and he's so arrogant that he can't help but cause suffering to humans.
Travel to Valyria is recommended only for characters level 10 and above.
I feel the same way about The Hound. Arya left before he was really, truly dead…
I think, thematically, that Dany has to figure out how to harness the dragons before she can harness the city. Not just because of the power they represent, but because it will be a lesson in guiding a dangerous force to her will.
We saw his fair trial. It was in the throne room where he pleaded his case to Dany. A fair trial in a medieval world isn't a jury trial. It's trying to convince the monarch of your innocence.
It wasn't overly Farscapey. Perhaps because it's too big, shiny (not in a Firefly way either) and fast. I had a thought about halfway through the movie, when the Guardians come together as a team: "This amount of trust between characters took Farscape almost two seasons to accomplish."
For me, the waterworks start when Aeryn says "I'm very angry…" while weeping. Perfect character moment.
I had flashbacks of an exploding watermelon at that moment. I too, was worried.
