I know. I raised them to be anti-violent, intelligent, capable, fun-loving music lovers. It's the worst.

Maybe some people just like their music and that's OKAY. I didn't see my first DMB/Dave & Tim show until my mid-30's. I've now got 25 shows under my belt and hope for more. It makes me happy. I'm not bothering anybody. Problem?
They may also be popular with middle-aged white, lower middle-class women who are done raising their teenagers. Maybe….
"The Grove" aired in March of this year. So I think she qualifies for this year's Emmy Awards, IF they recognize TWD at all. I'm a BrBa fan first and foremost, so I was pretty thrilled this year. Still, NO TWD? :/
*except for Breaking Bad - but yeah. ;)
Oh, Andrea. I liked her but man, I am SO pissed at her. And that's actually awesome. ;)
Funny that you bring up laundry. I said that to a friend as we watched. She's come a long way from laundry.
I LOVE that this episode was mostly about Carol. She deserves it. She's proven herself enough but WOW was this more than a Carol-fan could imagine. The only reunion that might have been more touching than Carol/Daryl was Carol/Rick. Last time those two saw one another, Rick was dumping her out in this horrible…
I don't think their motives were the same at all. Rewind to the time when Gretchen and Elliot were poised to shower the White family with money. Who, in Walt's situation, gets that kind of opportunity? Skyler is grateful, but Walt is disgusted and he never takes a cent, because his ego can't handle it. And he…
She didn't have the same kind of action scenes, but those are apples and oranges. She was, however, both Walt's greatest partner and adversary at the same time.
I disagree. I found her incredibly interesting. She was strong and very intelligent. She was the voice of reason and had a knack for business which may have rivaled Walt's. When she DID know what was going on with Walt's empire at any given moment, she gave better advice than Saul.
Combining things Vince Gilligan has said and my own perceptions, I'm not sure Walt was ever really likable. It was more that he was, at least in the beginning, sympathetic. He was awkward in social situations. He couldn't lie to his family to save his own life (literally.) And when he was bad-ass, he usually came…
Marie was almost a caricature of annoying. But, by the end of the series, I loved her. I wouldn't want to have to hang out with her, mind you, but even in her self-centered universe, she had a good heart and really loved her family. Her compassion for Skyler was above and beyond the call of duty.
Exactly. I don't think audiences are, collectively speaking, advanced enough to change their minds about their hero (anti-hero), while still deriving pleasure from the show. Eventually, Walt made me curse him out (actually out loud), but I couldn't wait to see the next episode. Meanwhile, I was sympathetic to…
YES! She is the one who ROCKS! :)
Good example. But if Mad Men and ER are soaps, then so are lots of shows. Breaking Bad is a soap. So is Homeland. House. Six Feet Under. Shameless. Human drama is inescapable. If done well, it's interesting. If done poorly, it belong on daytime network TV. Madmen is in the former category.
Soaps are not very intellectually stimulating. This show is/can be. Giving us a chance to relive the 60's is quite fun, too, especially because it's done so well. Sometimes I really have to think about things like, "Is Betty Draper a self-absorbed child or is she just a victim of the times?"
Not to mention that it's was (is) hard enough to be a woman and secure a meaningful career and to actually supervise men. Add a baby and well…buh bye. (Not everyone is Joan.)
I powered through it from EP01 to the most current in a week. I felt the same, and only half-watched until, somewhere along the line, it grabbed my attention. I really love the trip through the 60's - such a wild, colorful ride. Cultural revolution.
I appreciate it because I JUST began and finished my overdue Mad Men binge this past week. And now I'm looking for all those people who used to dare compare Betty Draper Francis to Skyler White.
