I'm gonna go ahead and blame this all on Gravity.

I broke a few bones in her, if ya know what I mean.
NO
Oh good. Now I can let everyone know I banged Eartha Kitt in an airport washroom.
No, I'm not saying that. And I can feel myself being drawn into a useless internet argument here, and I understand that it's a hot button topic. But as someone of Asian descent, I've grown used to in my life the niggling sense of unease by the way that we as a culture tend to be portrayed in Western media.
No, I understand that it wasn't supposed to be, which is probably why I personally wasn't offended. But nevertheless, it wasn't tasteful, and that's why some people were.
That's true, and it's rare, and refreshing to see a sincere apology, instead of blustering defenses that either the work in question wasn't that racist, or that people are wrong for being offended. They were prompt with their apology, and I think that does count.
Personally, I wasn't offended by the episode, though I can easily understand how people could be. It really did skate the line of good taste, and while I think "Yellowface" might not be entirely accurate, it didn't portray Asian culture in a very tasteful way.
Wow, I had no idea! That is a funny rule.
Here's an actual question that's going to be buried: what was Before Midnight adapted from?
I just watched him getting coffee with Jerry Seinfeld in a car, and thought it was great that he still wanted to talk superheroes the whole time. His long, thoughtful pause when Jerry asked him who his favourite superhero was was amazing. I want to know number 2.
I saw both movies on the same day, and found Wolf of Wall Street to be a tad long, but a forgiveable way to pass the time with the characters, and American Hustle a tedious, confusing slog. I still don't get the acclaim.
Who's filling in for Lizzy Caplan, who's filling in for John Hodgman.
I never find these sort of things satisfying. Either the plot lines would have been great and I'm upset, or they aren't, and I'm upset. It just doesn't end well for me.
This was the kind of bold, "fuck everyone" move I would have expected NBC to make out of desperation.
Yes it really is! Genteel, dry, academic magic. It was basically everything 15 year old me ever wanted from a book, ever since I devoured Mairelon the Magician.
She really is. I can't believe it took me this long to discover her. I'll be sure to check out her other books too!
I am already looking forward to the controversy.
PHRASING
Hannibal. Everyone needs to at least give it a chance.
