If you listen through the credits, MJ does give a signature "woo-o" in the end of that version (which also has additional instrumentation). It's not a hee-hee-hee, but it still is unquestionably a Michael Jackson improv.

That make-up removal was straight up Glenn Close at the end of Dangerous Liaisons. Seemed like a deliberate nod.
