If you've told him already about your concerns I'd cut ties. This reminds me of a HS acquaintance "friend" who wasn't an MRA but had mental health/addiction issues and took it out on people including spreading slanderous rumours about another mutual friend to said friend's now fiancee. He apologized but it also

Finished 9 Dragons by Michael Connelly. Again, if you're a fan of his other stuff you'll like this one.

Finishing off the last episode of Hell on Wheels this Saturday. Even if its never going to be remembered as a masterpiece I've watched the rest of the series and its been entertaining enough. To be fair, some of the plot issues have been tightened up since S3 and S4.

Probably breaking bad, I got into the first season 6 weeks before the series finale and had other things in my life so binging wasn't an option.

Relatively minor but my workplace has hired one "tech bro" and one "hippie bro" and they both decided to sit in my section and talk about going to strip clubs, start up tech companies and picking up chicks at the local cougar bar the last two days.

currently making a Jamaican style curry with Chicken, chickpeas, jalapenos and Peruvian hot peppers (courtesy of brother's fiancee) mixed with rice for my evening meals at work. beats subway and cheaper

One a week is fine enough. I'd just prefer that they be posted a certain time; my work schedule is such that I often post here before heading to work in the afternoon.

I've watched up to the end of S3 E3, I've got a bit of catching up to do. So far its enjoyable enough compared to the previous seasons (I liked S2 slightly better than S1). Without giving spoilers away, there's some changes to the plotlines for a few of the cast members.

Yeah, plus it s "History" channel we're talking about here, which doesn't fill me with hope.

Blame a crude understanding of Marxist theory (at a freshman university level) for this.

I said last night that most will although I can see a minority going third party or fringe party(while the libertarians aren't an ideological fit I see some overlap between them and Ron Paul types). Others won't vote.

I count Euro 2016 as pop culture as I watch it for entertainment. Other than that continuing S3 peaky Blinder and maybe getting back into vikings. History channel has a new show called "barbarians" which'll either be as good as Vikings or terrible.

Europe's Tragedy: a new history of the Thirty Years War by Peter Wilson: about 650 pages in around approx 1642.

After a period of soul searching plus the example of my coworkers who are doing Ramadan I'm an agnostic), I've decided to give up alcohol for 40-60 days. I'm not an addict in the sense of physical dependency but I went through a period of drinking for the wrong reasons which turned into binging. Hopefully I can

Alluded to elsewhere, I had a bout of existential angst at work last night that spiralled quickly from problems with the outbound phone system at work (which is stupidly insignificant in the grand scheme of things) to a whole tidal wave of emotions about the way my life has gone in the last year:

Colombiana on netflix: an incredibly cheesy thriller from Olivier Megaton of Besson's Europa corp fame featuring Zoe Saldana. Do not recommend, really.

Catching up on the last couple of episodes of peaky blinders, might get back to finishing S1 of vikings now that Banshee's done.

Yeah, its a good text so far. Seems well researched (I know less about this part of early modern Europe compared to 1789-1945 and the Ancient World). I'd say its relevant insofar as it shows how religious/sectrarian motives can be subservient to geopolitical goals, as well as iinfluencing politics to a lesser
