It was the first time it wasn't relentless. IMO

    If Kevin's dead that's a pretty poetic ending… I suspect he's fine though.
The problem I have with Evie's return is that it would be the defusing of the bomb. For me the idea of her ascending from the "safe town" would be jarring. The revelation that it was a hoax would defeat the purpose of the hoax as it re-instates

I would also put the scene with Nora and questions up there. She should win some hardware for her works this season.

"for some reason, every fan is 100% on board to call every episode the best thing since Jesus" - I feel that way about Fargo this season… this was a very good season of TV, better than Season 1… but it's definitely been up and down for me. Some incredible performances through-out though.

Season on a whole was great… this particular episode had ups and downs.
    UPS
    1. When Mary woke up it was one of the happiest moments I can remember. That whole thing was just so frustrating and the payoff was nice to see in a show that deals so steadily in misery
    2. Ditto for the ending… Chaos is taking over, but "home is

Right like Luscious wants power and respect he wants to RULE… everything he has done in a season and a half has been to that end. swift stream isn't his motivation, it's his current device. All the things you mention from the OC are actions attributed to a bigger ambiguous goal of "security"… I see the same thing

so the story lines move to quickly for a soap opera? That is certainly a point.

Luscious has not made an unselfish decision ever on the show. he's very consistent.

No… but it does mean fantastical silly fun. more so than realism… I'd also argue that outside of bi-polar issues the characters are fairly consistent… nit smart or wise but they attitudes and motivations are generally clear… There are definitely good guys, bad guys, and the in betweeners.

Right… but those soaps are generally formatted as such… they run year round and they are long term investments. Empire is not soap format, it is soap writing.

I think recap and discussion is probably more suitable.

She likes the show and doesn't like people trashing it… having said that… those people are watching and that is keeping it on the air… so grain of salt.. ya?

you open an interesting window for me here. I have found this season extremely entertaining, but when I think about it I don't really care about any of the characters either. That is to say I expect most to die and care only that it's plausible and entertaining when it happens… but I'm not rooting for anyone per se.

I'm not defending it as coherent… But we disagree about good and bad soaps… they are all bad in terms of realism and logic. you either find the events entertaining or you don't IMO. The show is fairly entertaining IMO… there is plenty to criticize… But it's better if you don't expect realism.

Clearly the writer doesn't like soap operas…

Ya… Just restating for the sake of transparency.

    "Like People?" was Fantastic.

My first thought is simply that when he shot the cops he was Gonzo… Lone wolfing and in survival mode. The rudeness was no longer acceptable and the priority was no longer Dodd's future and/or safety… as an alpha male that meant he had to go.

I've heard a lot about the Miller's Crossing references and the Music arrangements of songs from Oh Brother song have been enjoyable. I'm not sure I've heard people mentioning the Hotel hallway shots… very Barton Fink…

    1. This season has been distinctly more consistent than season 1. I thought Galavan was a promising addition… but I feel like they jumped the shark and I was quickly losing interest. The sister is much cooler and more interesting… good move Gotham.
    2. The whole thing with Bruce and Silver was extremely predictable…
