Why can't someone who does web cam shows be well adjusted… that's the point here. In fact this may be the closest we have to rust and marty… Ani is marty… typical right vs wrong definitions with a spatter of inner denial to justify her own shortcomings and the sister would be Rust fully comfortable behaving in a way

She is certainly no Marge Gunderson!!! they must know. I think though that McAdam's is not supposed to be a particularly good cop… In fact… I'm thinking she became a cop specifically for the authority it gives her,,, making her indeed as you posit, bad at her job. This is why the knives are emphasized along with the

with an overdub of vince vaughn saying "Every dime"…

I think you're over simplifying… I think Ferrell has done a "season 1 worthy" performance… nobody else is close to that level… but his character is not as intriguing as rust and there's no Marty to bounce off… I'd say the performances were the star of season 1… right down to the extras and supporting cast.

Anthology lends itself to comparisons unlike the shows you mentioned which build off the last season. You would never see breaking bad season 2 reviews tied this tightly to season 1 because it's understood that they are different places in the same narrative… better or worse sure but this is like comparing two movies.

Funny you mention that… it echoes her convo with her sister where she says "I should have looked out for you" (how she sees herself) and her sister replies, "you couldn't even look out for yourself" (the reality).

I am sure the guy that ray killed will factor in… to how Frank got where he is as well as perhaps what's going on now. I think most people were like "ya he's just giving him a random so he can own him" during ep 1… but the way the show proceeded there was no reason to believe that the situation would be different if

He is certainly playing a guy out of his depth… hence all the big words and the "eyes" watching him. He is an ape who scratched and clawed for survival… and in doing so, built some success. But as soon as he stops scratching and clawing the house of cards falls down. the world is watching and the second he gets it

But "it being Rust" was where the cops were going last season… people didn't just come up with that… it was more "could they be right?" than "aha… guess what I thought of". In this case… I also think it's not Paul… though the prospect of Caspere being his Father, or having some tie in with his mother is interesting

Ya… season one had the right blend of actors, characters, and narrative style…. I really enjoyed hearing the "srtory as accepted historically" while watching "the true detective's story" on screen… (like in the "shoot out" scene) as well as seeing the different "eras" and how the characters progressed… as well as

Season 1 was slow as well… but it was long entertaining hours. I think the first season grabbed us from the hop and had to keep us… this season seems to be getting better as it goes on… like they were aware that there was interest already and the season is designed to build on it slowly. scene 1 from ep 1 s1 I was

well you have a point… He is angry and repressed when he's sober. We are also "blacked out" when he is so we have not seen his behaviour or demeanor… thought presumably is is MORE sociable, not psychopathic… But who knows?

The way the review is written you'd swear there was a 90's style laugh track on the scene.

Pretty terrible if we're being honest…

Ya his aura exploded… lots of green and black in that scene… He's been an eagle among pigeons so far.

Maybe he has a deal with Yosip or whatever his name is

First, I thought the chair and the blood leaned toward this as the killing spot but the arterial spray would imply some other murder occured here

Perhaps it's a Chessani and Yossip turned on Caspere and Frank situation…

I think the bar has taken the place of the in car scenes… as the standard for the season… Some of the dialogue has been awful, but it's the place I'm happiest in the true detective (s2) universe… everything is just more interesting there… I feel like it's ray's imagination or something though… (odd that in his near

I think the idea… especially for Ray was to forget it as quickly as possible. The ease with which that was allowed is what's peaking Ani's interest. But Ani is a desk clerk and Ray quit altogether… there were clearly some ramifications… I don't think Ani is trying to get them to "suspect" as much as "care"..
