This trailer actually looks pretty good – but sadly it doesn’t look anywhere near as good as I hoped. One thing becomes instantly clear though: changing the point of view from Roland to Jake gives the film a strong YA fantasy vibe (sadly of the most derivative kind: boy discovers secret world, gets drawn into a battle

I feel every movie instantly gets elevated when it regales its audience with a little mass murder of religious bigots to the tune of ‘Free Bird’, so hopefully, the sequel will feature another Lynyrd Skynyrd type of scene ;-)

This project changed directors several times; originally it was supposed to be directed by Antoine Fuqua and then later by Edward Zwick - only to now have ended up in the hands of a no-name director. That's not a very good sign (an neither is the fact that the script was written and re-written by half a dozen people).

Once King started to write in the Crimson King and the Breakers and the Can-Toi and the Daheen into many of his stories, it became more and more annoying to me: because it felt forced. There is no need for those characters to be in those stories other than the fact that King wants to connect all his novels through

You actually hope he hit his head really hard: that way he might still be a little numb during what will happen to him next.

Thanks to the Horn of Eld (and Akiva Goldsman's genius) the film discards most of the boring storyline and redundant characters from the Dark Tower and puts much more emphasis on the characters and story arc that REALLY matter. I'm simply grateful we'll get a Dark Tower adaptation which will be so wonderfully

Nope, Mrs. Pittston will be played by John Goodman.

Finally, Oy has been cast.

Well, the trailer for Cell certainly looks much better than anything regarding The Dark Tower adaptation sounds.

I hardly remember the last 3 books anymore. Everything that's great about the Dark Tower is in the first 4; the last 3 had me feeling this was a writer indulging in a vanity project of his trying to forcefully create a storyline encompassing all his previous work - while losing his original, mythical and epic tale in

;-)
I always pop up where people least expect (and want me). But somebody's got to save those works from their incompetent creators: who better than me? I will do for The Dark Tower what I did for Batman in the nineties.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I absolutely adore the first 4 books, though.

Thankfully, Akiva Goldsman's script discards most of the boring storyline and redundant characters from the Dark Tower and puts much more emphasis on the characters and story arc that REALLY matter. Really smart casting decisions clearly indicate we'll get a Dark Tower adaptation which will be wonderfully different
