I don't doubt that women face lots of hostility and discrimination in male-dominated fields, and the memo could have spent more time discussing it, so let's agree on that.

What makes you think he's alt-right? I find him pretty hard to pin down overall, although some section of his followers are alt-right.

Sorry to bombard you with all this, but it's frustrating how these things are so poorly understood.

Yes, psychologists know all of that, take that into account and still find differences, across culture. Not differences in ability, but in INTERESTS, again and again. This doesn't make the women who work at google at all ill-suited, it just makes the potential recruitment pool less likely to be 50% women. Which

Not gonna argue with any of that; god knows the right has problems with science-denialism and free speech. They don't magically negate the left's own problems in those areas, though.

The Alt-right is truly grim man. It's also a vague, broad and ill-defined group, increasingly used as a bogeyman.

People who supported him in some capacity who are NOT alt-right:

I'll admit that I'm from England and probably don't see the worse aspects of your party politics.

Okay, I don't really know how the google memo system works but assuming it's not normally for these kinds of workplace discussions, then fine, I can see some punitive measures being due.

That's quite a facetious reply, I was really hoping for a sober discussion with The Purple Tentacle.

You might want to reread your first comment for a better example of "having a conversation with yourself".

he didn't say that women shouldn't work at Google mate, try reading the memo

I have the first opinion but not the second, as does everyone I know in the centre and on the right.

The thing is, if he wrote a 10-page memo supporting the current diversity programme, would you care?

Hiya, please don't read this questions as sarcastic or disingenuous, but could you please point me in the direction of some psychological research on sex difference that contradicts his claim?

No worries at all, it's nice to have a pleasant exchange on the internet on a controversial subject! Enjoy your day :)

I realise the study i just linked is behind a paywall: basically it concludes that the areas where there are significant differences are:

Hiya, thanks for the affable reply! I really don't like being some comment section contrarian but I think it's an important issue. I'm not sure we can find truly progressive, workable solutions to inequality until we acknowledge a few underlying biological realities. I've added a few more points but feel free to

Hi dude I put some studies and further reading in another comment. You might be suprised, as I was, how ironclad the scientific consensus is on this, once you set aside the politics.

Hi dude there are plenty of studies that suggest disparities in hiring practises might be linked to innate differences.
In fact, many of these studies are by women! For instance, Judith Kleinfield, Karen Lehrmen, Cathy Young and Camilla Benbow are psycologists that have all produced work in this area.
