I think what's more important is getting beyond the idea of "likability," especially in female roles. The best part about Rebecca is that she's extremely unlikable, which is of course what makes her an anti-hero; being an unlikable character in a genre that always serves likable ones.
Thawne was this episode's saving grace, everything else felt poorly thought out.
That could easily happen, I'd be a little surprised if it was purely an artistic flourish.

I feel like this was inevitable. In a weirdly beautiful way it's like watching myself grow up through film tastes, beginning with films like Inception and Fight Club whose plots are necessary and moving into the more tone-focused territory of Lynch and other arthouse fare.
He just seems so awkward to me that his lines don't come across very well. He's too one-note for me to believe him. Part of me wants to look at him like a Lynchian character but that doesn't really work in terms of the other performances on the show.

They really need to explain how Elliott got released, preferably sooner rather than later. Hopefully it will be a nice plot twist because otherwise it just seems like lazy writing.
These are certainly valid readings worth discussing, but I think that even if Eastwood was attempting to make Kyle a more nuanced figure, he could have done a far better job. The interview only serves to prove Eastwood's inability to bring this level of nuance that could make these characters more ambiguous.
There needs to be a balance of buildup and unpredictability, which I thought Esmail did pretty well. Maybe an episode or two earlier and it would've been better.
Yeah the earlier he did the twist the better it would be. At least it's not nearer the finale, that would've been so gimmicky and dumb.

I think the Deathstroke mask on the beach was something Oliver did after killing Slade for the first time. It didn't happen onscreen but that was always my assumption. Probably Ollie's way of honoring him.
