I definitely recommend that show, too. I'm a big fan of Against Me, so I watched the show because Laura was in it. I ended up learning so much from it. If nothing else, it does a great job of presenting worldviews/perspectives and experiences that are so different from anything I could have imagined on my own.

There are people who loved Parks and Rec that didn't like the finale?

For me, it was. A sequel to a movie franchise 30 years after the fact that's just soaked in orange and teal? That alone made me extremely wary. But now that I've heard nothing but praise for it, I'm going next weekend.

I guess I'm the only one that liked Jared trying to force Monica and Carla's friendship. They were right to keep it as a background joke because there's really not a lot to explore there; it's a one-note joke that I thought worked because they sprinkled it through the episode instead of trying to make it into its own

I agree. This was my favorite episode so far in this season. In the overall narrative, it maybe didn't do much, but it gave us Carla. And I love it for that alone. I had to rewatch her scenes multiple times because I was laughing over jokes the first few times.

And self-referential to the point of masturbatory.

Or it could be because, and I know this sounds crazy, some of us actually like movie marathons.

Yeah, you're right. It's not like it was Ludacris all of a sudden being a badass and beating someone down.

Jaa has a black belt in Taekwondo and has a ton of training in Muay Thai (obviously), Judo, Akido, and Wushu. I'm not saying Walker wasn't awesome, but Jaa is really on the next level.

The only problem with Tony Jaa in Furious 7 was that we were supposed to believe he wouldn't have destroyed Paul Walker.

Yeah, his is much better, but then they decided to make Black Widow look like she just got out of Tron.

But is it making the world a better place?

Paul Verhoeven already did this. He was ahead of his time.

Sandal is my favorite footwear-related drama.

If you haven't seen 5 or 6, go back and watch them. Fast Five is where they moved away from just being about racing/car porn and decided to make a plain action/heist movie. It's also where they just leaned into the ridiculousness of the series and where it really came into its own.

"which makes sense because going fast is half the point."

I agree with you. I think Wilmore's delivery is just awful. He and the writers on his show are both capable of writing great jokes, but he just doesn't have the delivery for it at all.

Is that why he's the only thing not wrong with that movie?

That two minutes was better than anything in Shutter Island.

And Scott Glenn is such a wonderful character actor. If you told me Miller created Stick with Glenn in mind, I would totally believe it.
