Fur aka Failed Oscar Bait no. 614

Gone Girl had Gillian Flynn adapting her own novel and David Fincher directing. This gets the director of The Help and the writer of Fur and Men, Women and Children.
This song and I'm Gonna DJ is a nice one-two to finish off Accelerate
Really looking forward to the Hiss Golden Messenger album.
Moved to November now apparently
I'm shocked, shocked to learn that this isn't very good. OK, that's a lie, I'm not very shocked at all.
One of the things I found interesting about The Martian was that the main character didn't have a partner or child. So no getting bogged down in the usual 'worried family' scenes, and an acknowledgment that single, childless people exist in a non-romantic comedy 'looking for love' context. Hooray!
1. Does the film have Kate Hudson in it?
2. Is the film live-action?
3. Is the film Almost Famous?
On the contrary, there's a billion reasons to do it. Not filmmaking-related reasons admittedly…
The Disney live-action money-making machine continues apace! OK, all except for Pete's Dragon thus far anyway.
Something New is a charming read. I wound up feeling entertained and happy for Knisley and her partner, whilst at the same time rather relieved that I have no desire to ever get married.
Taken is basically a po-faced version of Commando, and every bit as bad as that sounds.
Every studio hopes their remake will be another Karate Kid or True Grit (and who would have guessed those two would be the ones to do so well, especially the latter considering the Coens' aren't exactly known for commercial hits).
I've been wondering which of Storks/Trolls/Sing will turn out to be the worst film and…who am I kidding, it's quite clear that Trolls will be the worst one. This at least has Kelsey Grammer in it.
Antoine Fuqua makes average, forgettable film shock!
L.A. Confidential is an amazing film (a textbook lesson in how to adapt a novel, especially one that sprawling), he was robbed of that Best Director Oscar.
Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence in an SF film? Ok, sounds interesting. And then I see it's from the director of The Imitation Game (I think even Morten Tyldum has forgotten he has an Oscar nomination to his name) and the co-writer of The Darkest Hour and Prometheus and suddenly my hopes recede somewhat. Just have to…
Amy Adams will do a Kate Winslet and wind up winning an Oscar for some dreary Oscar bait rather than one of the many roles where she deserved one.
