Yeah, it really is a "don't bring in the science if you're only going to do it halfway" thing. I had the same thoughts.

Jesus, that'd be a ridiculous turn of events.
I really LIKED him though. I mean, he didn't necessarily fit in, but I think he served as a nice segue into Oliver's perma-good cheer. Like, bring in someone who dials the cheer up to 11, then Ollie's newfound well-adjustment doesn't seem so weird.
Ugh, if Barry's Earth 2 dad was Zoom, I would be deeeeeelighted.
I ALSO DID NOT GET IT.
Poor Tacoma. But yes, like a good PNWer, I totally scoffed at the "Tacoma frowns on murder" bit. YEAH, RIGHT, TACOMA.
He looked like he was about to cry most of the time. They're really telling, not showing with the whole "hero" thing.
Better evil than boring!
Yeah, when he shoved that new zombie guy in the face, I was like, "Whoa there, Blaine, careful with the zombie contact." But maybe he IS immune.
Right — I doubt she wants Major to know she's living with Liv just yet.
No, no, you're missing the subtlety! In TV logic, she's barefoot in her house because she's CRAZY. A sane person would be in 5-inch heels.
Cackling at Angela as a bone savant. Glad someone else caught that. Also, twice in one episode, "Here's a doodle, let's run it through the database annnnnd yep, 100% match!" "Running it through the database" when the database is just 18th century portrait paintings was an especially wonderful touch.
Yeah, that was definitely a weird case of the writers clearly talking through the characters, and I thought they were totally out of line in casting that relationship shadow over someone else's show.
It's a little silly, but, I mean, this is ultimately a show for young people. I'd be really glad if they took the opportunity to show the kids in their audience that, hey, just because you love someone doesn't mean you're entitled to their affection. Shit happens. Sometimes it'll never work out, and that's ok.
Oh god, he's the physical manifestation of "WILL they, won't they".
The supernatural detective escapades haven't even come CLOSE to factoring into any other larger storyline. Why are they writing him his own weird little non-canon web series?
I kind of thought Major was still, at his core, a little more principled than boning down with a psycho evil mastermind, so that's a little disappointing…
But come on, man! You never hang onto evidence of your crimes!
Which seems, you know, ineffective if they're going to go and wake up in your trunk. How is he supposed to get them bagged up to shoot then?!
Yeah, I felt like, I don't know, having him murder those zombies to protect Liv is one thing, but hate sex with the person making you do it really took things to a gross level. It sort of removes the bizarro romance from the character arc and just makes it soapy.
