Thank you Jeff Lynne - his post-ELO producer credits show how influential he was/is.
AGREED. The "this is not" verse hits home.
Caro released the chapter as-is on Amazon ("Dallas"). Writing doesn't get better.
For an arresting read on this - read Robert Caro's short book "Dallas, 1963". But the real pleasure is all Caro's LBJ books.
oops - meant escalators. At least Moe's is at the top of the hill.
A friend of mine has been touring with them for 10 seasons (violin). It's not everyone's taste, but all the musicians on stage can play the shit out their instruments, and the overall logistics are mind-boggling. Great interview.
YES, he's a weak director, but was hired to make a kids movie. I give him grudging credit with setting the strong template of production design and casting that lasted thruout the series.
Read "Mr. S" by his valet George Jacobs for the dirt.
upvote just for Gershwin reference
SPM 2 + SPM 3 bluray are coming from Shout next January.
The guy can really cook. Babbo in NYC is fabulous. And Eataly in Flatiron has a rooftop beergarden.
Easy. "Always The Last To Know" by Del Amitri - Desperately missing a loved one, with a devastating twist at the end. The lyric deepens as you age. As for aurally, it's tough to top the opening of Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain".

Plus the dad in Whiplash. Great little part.
Agree - NY is 2 states (as is CT). The NYC Metro area (urban/suburban/affluent/democrat) and everywhere else (rural/rust-belt/republican). Hair Metal still sold well into the early 90s (Warrant had a gold record in 92, GnR's Use Your Illusions, etc), but was completley ignored by their labels/media/MTV, replaced by Grunge.
GREAT READ. the end of the book is a revelation.
make that shirt, and sell to Mickey Thomas (who still does a ton a concerts) for merch sales. you'll sell a ton.
THANK YOU. there's tons worse. Starship has the added pressure of their counterculture history. They just wanna hit to pay the rent - in this case 30+ years later. All working musicians should be so lucky.
