of course it's written by Mutt Lange - the man behind Bryan Adams, Shania Twain, The Cars (Heartbeat City), etc….and Back in Black.

that movie is built like a swiss watch. I was like "what happened to Zemeckis"? He had a great run until the mo-cap/CGI detour.

great movie, awesome cast, a nearly-forgotten epic western with an amazing score. all aces.

same producer (Matt Sereltic) also produced a bunch of the Collective Soul releases, and even a Willie Nelson (!)

met him a few years ago, he was hosting a viewing of "ANVIL! The Story of Anvil" at the Jacob Burns theater outside NYC. He is well aware of how much luck is part of success, as briefly noted in interview above. Super nice guy, only a couple dozen people at the screening.

Nope, but I vaguely remember the names. Was there 2000-2002. Crazy business, article is spot-on.

and harassed the shit out of every public servant/volunteer in Cold Spring.

Didn't Durst and Scott Stapp have an ongoing feud, and were going to have a boxing match once? If that actually happenned, everyone would be the winner.

at the Sting/Peter Gabriel show at Jones Beach, you could purchase full carafes of wine. Which many people did.

Read Steven Bach's "Final Cut". Fascinating first-hand account of UA and its demise, with focus on HG. Best bit: all the studio focus was on HG, and virtually ignored a little movie called "Raging Bull"

My Bill Murray Story: flying from Charleston to NYC, Murray graciously gave his seat to a woman so she could sit with her family (Murray's new seat: 33E, middle seat!). He wanted to be left alone, so didn't bother him beyond a "big fan". At the airport (JFK) both he and I are next to each other waiting for our car

Modern-Day Delores Umbridge

I have direct knowledge that the majority of Lewis' works are owned by a mismash of studios that have been bought/sold/merged over the past 40 years, and largely nobody at the current studios will put in the effort to sort it all out. this title might be different, but still…

It's like "Off The Wall" and Chic had a baby. and I mean that as a compliment.

correct. and it took 2 years to secure the clearances.

put that off; start with book 2: Means of Ascent. Worth every minute, and dovetails perfectly into MOS.

Agreed! In the Caro book, the legal drama on the election stealing from TX governor Coke Stevenson is remarkable (engineered by Abe Fortas, who LBJ nominated to the Supreme Court 20 years later). Stevenson gets a mini-bio by Caro - every word deserved.

I've read all 4 volumes. Masterful books. The Kennedys HATED LBJ - viewed him as an unspohisticated bumpkin. But he knew how to grease the senate (which he stole his seat in an election, BTW). Essential reading for any American.

If you're looking for an unbelieveable summer read - start Robert Caro's "Years of Lyndon Johnson" series. Better than ANY epic fiction book series. Russell is a huge part of LBJ's life.

Dave's Old Porn? A Dave Attell show that was on Showtime?
