It's a little disconcerting for the first 30 minutes but your brain catches up eventually. I'm in a big city (Dallas) so there were options to see it in HFR 3D. The one thing that has really improved is the 3D - they figured out that cranking the brightness makes up for the darkened glasses. I think Cameron figured…
If he just would have prefaced every sentence with, "I don't want to sound like a racist but…" he would have been totally fine. "No offense but…" would also have been acceptable.
Then "Take my money!"
It sounds a little stupid but I'll see the movie in whatever format the director feels best. That's why I saw those exceedingly mediocre Hobbit films in 3d HFR. And DKR on the IMAX. If it doesn't matter to the director, it doesn't matter to me.
upvote for never doing the TOE again.
downvote for suggesting the Dissolve review TV.
So this is basically like the Emmy's then? Here's one episode to determine if something is great.
Gah, my sleep chart would be a mess right now. A toddler and a 1 month-old at home means that my little arcs would be too small for the text to fit. Last night, I slept for 3 hours, then 1 hour, then 1 hour, then 30 minutes. Just a tour de force of not sleep.
Your comment doesn't make sense.
I'm into Mad Men somewhat… but I think it's a "B" show instead of the "A+" that most critics think it is. It's had its moments but it always feels like a random collection of scenes with an incredibly tenuous connection week to week. I think it has to do with the structure of the show. They show roughly 2-3 days in…
Wait, you're all in Texas, too? We must all be neighbors with the Ewings (it's an interesting layout). What a coincidence!
I had to rewind a couple of times and read lips to figure out what she was saying. Obvious f-bombs are easy to spot but when the beeps are more sexual, it can be difficult to figure out exactly what she said. It's also fun to see when "pussy" has to be beeped and when it's ok.
The first season was in 1998 so it's been on for 16 years. They've doubled up many times. But they need to start doubling up more if they want to stay ahead of The Amazing Race, currently airing its 24th season.
I heard Werner Herzog is available to direct.
Todd has a very heavy hand at times.
Sort of true. But I think it's much more dangerous for "Girls" to become irrelevant. Sure, it may just be the trolls disappearing that's affecting the discourse here. There's been just as much nudity this season but the trolls aren't taking the bait, I guess.
It's a numerical analysis. Two other shows that aired this time last year, "The Walking Dead" and "The Americans", are having almost exactly the same number of comments. It's not the AV Club writing staff (Todd is the same guy still fawning over this show) or nuDisqus that's affecting the comments. There's just…
Last week's episode only had 224 comments. Last season, most of the episodes generated 500 to 800 comments. It's way lower this year. Posting time is about the same.
Wow, the number of comments on "Girls" is getting really low. I remember last season when they would be in the 500s by the morning. I guess there isn't much left to say about this show anymore. Love or hate season 2, it wasn't boring…
I remember when Z104 in Wisconsin changed its format, they played "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men. Except they had been building it up all week that they were "shutting down the radio station" or something like that. So 9 or 10 year old me waited on pins and needles next to my little radio in my room hoping that it…
