Is it just me or are Oscar-bait December films becoming more easily seen lately? I live in a big city (Dallas) so pretty much any movie is available right away with Blue Valentine being the exception. I mean, Black Swan and the King's Speech are everywhere.

It's like HEY! The actors were REALLY FIGHTING! Give that director a nomination!

I guess that's what happens when you pick 10 noms. There would be a lot more debate or uncertainty if there were only 5.

nom nom
I picked every single one of the ten best pictures noms so nice job, Academy. If it were only five, it would be Winter's Bone (although not on my personal list), Toy Story 3, Social Network, Black Swan, and the King's Speech. With Social Network winning.

I just think anything short of a state title would be a massive downer. It's going to be a very heartfelt finale with lots of tears but I don't see them losing.

Football
I would guess next week is very football-centric, maybe even a couple of playoff games. In Texas, it typically takes 6 wins in the playoffs to win state so the Lions have a long road ahead of them. It would be the biggest shock ever if the Lions didn't win it all but you never know with this show. They

I'm sorry…
you had to see this. Looks like you drew the short straw with Noel to review The Illusionist.

He definitely did not burn those bridges. He's considered a top high school coach (magazine covers) and has already received his own recruiting calls. My guess is that he will end up coaching a major university and NOT a fictional one. FNL creates fictional schools when they are shown in less flattering light but

College show
Isn't it time we had a good college show making it on one of the cable networks? Something that still has, for example, The League's sense of dirty comedy mixed with young people and occasional classes and drama. Are shows set at college or sports-based THAT hard to make?

The dialogue on Terriers was fantastic - thanks for pointing that out. Maybe Minear should head over to the Walking Dead where the dialogue was abysmal.

whore.

I wouldn't say the AVC loves Glee. They routinely give out D's when appropriate. Maybe even an F for the Rocky Horror episode? Glee is the most erratic show out there and the reviews here reflect that.

As everyone knows, chicken sandwich is WAYYYY funnier than a burger. Basic comedy math.

A vote for The Two Escobars from me. You can really break down the series into thirds. Ten greats, ten ok, ten bad/not interesting. That may sound like a condemnation of the series, but it's not. ESPN somehow got people talking about documentaries. Most of them were about 50 minutes which was a perfect length.

I would probably rank those Archer > Sunny > CH for their 2010 work. The live episode of CH was fantastic though. But it can't quite top "Job Offer" on Archer which might have been the funniest 30 minutes of the year.

That's because less than a million people saw Terriers. Under-appreciated by the public but certainly not the critics. Just remember that critics can't save a show.

Terriers lost 800k (50%) from the premier. I can see why so many people tuned out after the first viewing. It looked like any old cop show. It took until episode 5 or 6 before things started to escalate.

And see, I liked all the opposite parts that you did. I loved seasons 4 and 5 and Island portion of season 6. I do agree that the MiB/Jacob stuff was rushed and should have been sussed out early in season 6. I was completely fine with the sideways revelation in the end. It was emotional and appropriate. I just

At least twice, (second to last episode as well?) but possibly three times. It was just bad.

Mad Men
I know I'm in the minority with my stance on Mad Men but I really found this season lacking. Personally, I think MW drafted a season with individual performances in mind and not a cohesive vision. Perhaps he's a little perturbed that Mad Men hasn't picked up any acting Emmy's yet? With Breaking Bad's last
