I think it was like a greatest hits of "Action Mann"…but some of the casting (ahem Hemsworth) and script choices were what kept me from being fully immersed. But it's still pretty to look at and technically well made. Worth a one time watch at least.

Yup I really dug it too, it took about three episodes for me to fully embrace. But once Jean-Claude Van Damn (Damme) makes his "appearance" in Episode Three, I was all in with the tone of what the show was going for. Any issues aside, I dug it all the way through to the last episode…it has a pulse, it looks gorgeous,

I really like Sense8's earnest "cheese", it's spirit, and pretty much all of the characters. Plus it's technically awesome (great location shooting, film like quality from Wachowski's, Tykwer, McTiegue). And it's a nice "levity contrast" to stuff like TD2 - but my tastes are vast and various as I'm watching The Strain

Me too…Miami Vice '06 (and Heat of course) have some of the best realistic shootouts on film of all time. I loved MV '06 from day one even with all the hate it got. Farrell (and his awesome 'stache) & Fox, the whole cast were great IMO. Folks wanted Jan Hammer & Don Johnson & Philip Micheal Thomas…but to me Mann made

Yeah…but again, execution. Netflix's Sense8 has a meta storyline involving one character of the "8", a Mexican action star thespian with a secret that eventually ties into the main arc. His story is full on telenovela tropes, BUT, it's done really well so that the audience becomes fully engaged/empathetic in his

Like this whole season so far, it was alright. "The Surviving Trifecta's" themes the review touched upon were nice, but the execution (again) is what is weak. As always Colin's Velcoro shines, he's the only character I give a crap about. Paul and Ani are "expendable" like Velcoro says. Pizzolatto's writing continues

That's the real True Detective story for season 2 we deserved…Magnum's Stache vs. Velcoro's Stache and The Cult Of SoCal Guacamole Demons.

I thought it was Pizzolatto layering his secret occult love for Steven Seagal and his ponytail. Heck The Wachowski's and J. Micheal Straczynski wrote Jean-Claude Van Damme and John Milius' Conan The Barbarian into Netflix's Sense8 script - and it works fantastically on a narrative, meta, and pure "Okay that's cheesy

Yeah… I just chalk it up to Pizzalatto really liking his basic familiar tropes/archetypes in his writing. I'll say this, having watched Netflix's Sense8 twice now (I really dug it and have no idea why it doesn't have the comment popularity here on AV TV Club as some other inferior shows do) have a closeted gay

Lito the action star is an easy conduit for this to happen. At least a small cameo in a movie Lito is doing, or another part, maybe even as a fight scene choreographer. Then Capheus takes over Lito as a Van Damme (Damn!) superfan and his dream comes true as the meta of Sense8's Lito story gets Capheus Van META.

Not sure where you are at in the series, but on the Sense8 episode 11 review comment thread (the latest one posted) there are some other folks that dig Speed Racer as well…so high five!

Yeah…I like Tuppence in brunette mode - Jupiter Ascending, Imitation Game…oh yeah.

Hello fellow Speed Racer loving brethren…we are not many, but we are a small and vigilant bunch. One of the best PG rated family films that gets a bad rap - unique visual storytelling, faithful to the IP, with good themes of family and how folks deal with loss. It just needed a bit of editing (the corporate shady

Yes…finally I can comment on HOW AWESOME IT WAS TO SEE JCVD "TRANSCEND FORM" INTO A KICKBOXING BUS AND DELIVER A ROUNDHOUSE KICK OF THE AGES! I felt the spirit of Bloodsport, Kickboxer, Lionheart, Death Warrant, Universal Soldier, TimeCop, Hard Target and JCVD's "JCVD" film all at once…top three Sense8 moment for me

Oh I totally get why the birth scene would roll the eyes for some/most, but for me it did further the character connection narrative in a well shot, visual storytelling way for the sensate's to bond, as opposed to a possible "Basil Exposition" type of thing.

I agree…I posted a super long after show comment downthread about the main issue - and in a nutshell, Pizzolatto's TD2 script just isn't very good (so far as there are still 6 eps left), and the actor's are doing the best they can with what they got. Not to mention it seems like the enjoyable side characters (Drunken

Yup and Woola The Dog too…

It was alright, just like the premiere. Pizzolato's choice to inject the vibe of TD1 into TD2 is hampering this show so far to me. He should have went in a completely different direction "anthology style" wise. I think even though Fukunaga did not direct this season, his "Ghosted" directorial efforts are all over TD2,

Per a comment I left on the previous ep…That's exactly what I was talkin' about my man Lito, EL CAIDO LIVES!! Via a little nudge from Wolfgang and vice versa (I hope he and Wolfgang get to working with Will Nomi Riley soon). Also…Conan The Barbarian and Felix would be proud of ya Wolfgang.

Haha!
