I thought this was the best episode this season. Most balanced and had 3 great dialogue scenes.
I've noticed over on reddit and here that many book readers are getting their panties in a tiff about this season, moreso than before. It's easy to explain, they are butthurt they aren't able to lord knowledge over show watchers anymore.
You don't really think they killed off Barristan just for that, do you?
Right. McNutt made an error.
He won't be the only one who does. Pretty much the whole castle stabs Jon in the books.
Stannis and Roose are more alike than either would care to admit. "You are my daughter/son."
I thought that the first half of that movie was great. It was when Angelina Jolie came in that it went off the rails.
Watched this every time Beowulf came up in class since it's the only Beowulf film that's not a filmed abortion. I love it.
I think Barristan's deconstruction was that he grew old and lost his luster. That's another thing you never see in the warrior legends. The mighty warrior getting old and grey and then dying to a pack of peasants.
I think you're confusing someone with Illyrio Mopatis.
I bet Tyrion will do the commanding. Or not. I have no idea where this show is headed.
Yeah, and I think them gone just makes her situation more crazy. It will make her eventual fighting pit thing more dramatic.
Ah. Yeah, I can see that making sense in her mind. The last few Hands were all about trying to screw her over. She probably saw the job as a liability.
Yeah. I kind of knew as soon as I saw the whore from the first episode that this was a trap they wouldn't make it out of. The writers wouldn't set something like that up without pay-off. Too bad it was a tad contrived.
Syrio Forrel died holding a wooden sword at the hands of a shitty Kingsguard. Khal Drogo died of an infection. Robert Baratheon was gored by a bull while drugged. The series is filled with great warriors getting caught with their pants down.
Didn't make the Iraq connection there, but I see it. I would be impressed if the creators put that much thought into it.
Yeah, I didn't see Grey Worm take any fatal hits. I did however see Barriston take a few. A knife straight through the back is hard to not die from.
There's a theory that Benjen Stark (who disappeared beyond the wall in the first episode/first couple chapters of GoT) is actually Daario Naaharis (sp?). My comment was mostly a joke because I don't really see the evidence for it, but the theory was there before the show and after they recast Daario as a guy who looks…
Yeah but they had numbers on their side. I think it's funny how they made this scene realistic and unrealistic at the same time from a movie magic stand point. On one hand, yeah, no matter how good they are, they won't do good against overwhelming numbers, and surrounded. On the other hand, Barriston and Grey Worm go…
