We've always had a "snobs vs. slobs" element to our culture. It's only in the last few decades though, that we've gone from mocking intellectualism to actively, aggressively hating it. And I put a yuuge part of the blame on Fox News, and specifically on people like Hannity.

The first 30 seconds of "Stranglehold" are as iconic as the intros to "Smoke on the Water" or "Highway to Hell". The rest is pud-pulling.

No. I'm saying that Fox News has spent 2+ decades indoctrinating its army, entrenching strong negative feelings against the "other" - party, position on issues, culture, religion, you name it.
