Line on the Horizon

I wouldn't categorize Matt Jamison as mentally ill. Kevin Garvey and his father are probably technically mentally ill. I think Matt is just a person with a case of having apophenia. It's common among religious people particularly those who are "highly" religious.

If Matt wants to care for his comatose wife, bathing her, dressing her, comforting her that's fine. But he crosses the line with sexual intercourse. She needs to have woken up for sex to occur. Otherwise he's a "crazy guy humping a woman in a coma." That's not sympathetic. Picture that happening: a shot of him and his

Lmao.

"the most natural end-point to the season is probably going to be the revelation that someone from Jarden did indeed vanish, and that it was covered up…"

Lol. I bet Carlton Cuse calls Damon after each episode and says, "Dude, what the fuck are you doing!? Are you sure you really wanna go down this mystery/supernatural road again? Didn't you get enough grief with the ending of Lost!?"

"Did he shut it because he couldn't stand to look at himself? Or because of what happened next?"

I suppose it all depends on what the writers have decided on what Matt Jamison's character arc will be. Some characters make mistakes and through their actions get redemption in the end. Others fall from grace and get punished, like the criminal who gets either killed or arrested by the hero in the final scene of the

True. But forgiving/acquitting Matt of rape because of his non-functioning mental facilities is more of "legal" view as opposed to a moral or ethical view. In other words, Matt legally did no wrong, but morally or ethically he did.

I can't help but chuckle each time the bridge to Jarden is shown. I know it works for the story symbolically to make the town a special place only few can enter, but it's a little bit comical to think this one bridge is the only way in or out.

There really must be some clarification eventually otherwise Matts credibility is ruined. They can leave the "did she or didn't she wake up" ambiguous for now. But by the finale they need to have a flashback or she wakes up and clears his name.

Ditto. During that scene I remember thinking,"This lady sounds like that one actress from that sitcom a long time ago… Nah, can't be her. This woman is way too old!"

"I think [Michael] believes that when [Evie] has blackouts, she's subconsciously traveling to wherever the departed went, and now she's just finally made the full trip."

My thought was that the girls witnessed Kevin trying to commit suicide and jumped in to save him and the earthquake happened which drowned and swallowed them up. The cinder block tied to his leg ironically saved him because it anchored him to the ground as the water sank into the cracks opened up in the earth.

Well said. I couldn't agree more.

Agreed. It makes sense Nora wants safety. She now thinks she's got it, and we'll explore that sense of safety be challenged this year.

You're right. Come to think of it, Murphys son did appear uncomfortable answering questions to the tourists. "Selling" the water is a bad way to put it. From what we know so far, it seems like he's sincerely trying to help people who are desperate. Perhaps at some point he'll be in need of money for some morally

I think in season 1 Nora's brother the preacher guy asks her for a bunch of money. He wanted to save his church or something, didn't he? Maybe I'm thinking about a different show. But I think she refused and so he went and gambled and won the money in the roulette game episode. So I guess she had family money or

Good point. Property values have sky rocketed in Jarden, TX. Hell, even the Murphy teen was selling the water his sister "stole" from the lake. Everyone is trying to make a quick buck off the "magic." All the snake-oil salesman are getting in on the action. T-shirts, water, even the wristbands to allow entry are worth

Lmao. Very true. Hopefully whatever "force" or "entity" that caused the Departure had a moral obligation to take away all those greedy Wall Street bankers.

Lol. Exactly. $3mill for the shithole they moved into?! For fucks sake, $3 mill buys a $1.5 million mansion with an extra hundred grand spent on upgrades and comfortable amenities. Then put the rest in an investment portfolio.
