I know quite a few British Asian people (of Indian and Chinese descent) and none are noticeably identifiable as Asian by their accents. They just have British accents. I'd have agreed with you that James Earl Jones sounds 'black' to my ears, but I can't discount K4's notion that that is me just projecting.
On a side

It's pretty common for doctors to keep their own surname though. My sister is still Dr Ryan even though she married someone with a different surname.
