Right? May be I'm missing something, but why bother with chain at all?!

I hate to bring up logistical questions. But the show has meticulously point out how scarce materials are, then all of a sudden you see wights pulling massive chain links. Seriously, is there a Home Depot near Eastwatch, where else do you get massive chain links to pick up that dead dragon from the bottom of the lake?…
