Okay, but then that'd just fall onto the audience to understand basic context clues. If the show explicitly takes place in the 40s during WWII, and someone refers to "that Mustache Guy causing trouble over there", due to the fact that I know the show takes place in the 40s, and I know that WWII occured around then,

Why are there… two of you? Is one of you already not too many?
No but seriously, there are two different accounts with two different icons in this thread, ranting about how feminism somehow took their child away, and the whole situation is very surreal.

I am very sincere. Leto's so sure as to the disturbing nature of his character that it sounds like an early writer trying to describe their attempt at an edgy, dark villain. The more he absolutely insists that his Joker is really scary and fucked up, the more I'm thinking he's probably not. He's like one of those

I like how Leto's trying so hard to be dark and edgy and nobody is taking him seriously at all.
Nobody's excited for the Joker in this movie, really. We've all had enough of the Joker. Too many actors, Heath Ledger included (sorry, Heath, your performance was really good, but I actually wouldn't call it your best),

This guy gets it.
