The pounding piano in their version suits it much better than I expected, and there's never anything bad you can say about Eric Burdon's singing.
There are actually so many great versions of this song. In addition to Them, The Animals also made a killer version, and the Bad Religion one is fun too, if only for how they changed literally nothing except speeding it up and adding electric guitars, and it still works.
